Obituary
Charles C. Curtis The death of Charles C. Curtis occurred Friday afternoon at his home on the Corinna road, following an illness of only a few days. His death was hastened from injuries sustained last December when he received a severe fall. He has been failing rapidly since then, and on Friday afternoon succombed to various complications, being attributed as a direct result of his accident. Mr. Curtis was born in Exeter, April 20, 1844, coming to Dexter when he was a young man, and where he spent the greater part of his life. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joshua Curtis and his death marks the passing of the last one of a family of eleven children. Mr. Curtis was married in the early nineties to Miss Annie Marie Stewart of Newport, and coming to Dexter soon afterwards, they settled on the present farm where they lived for 32 years, Mrs. Curtis passing away last May. He was one of Dexter's most prosperous farmers and highly respected by his friends. Mr. Curtis was a member of the Dexter grange and an ardent worker in the order. He is survived by only two nieces,. Mrs. Jesse W. Hoyt of Dexter and Mrs. Ina Mayo of Brewer. Since the death of his wife Mr. Curtis has been cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Tease. Funeral services were held at the residence Sunday at 4 o'clock, Rev. William H. Dunham of the Methodist church officiating. The bearers were John Marsh, Seth Schoppe, Ernest L. Libby and John M. Katen.
