Death was due to heart trouble. She had been ill about two weeks. Mrs. Hutchins, whose husband is the only surviving Grand Army veteran in Dexter, was born in Laurel County, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 18, 1847. She met her husband, a native of Brighton, Me., at Newtown, Illinois in 1867, following his honorable discharge from service in the Civil War. They were married at Newtown 65 years ago last Christmas. Successively they lived in Illinois, Minnesota, South Dakota and Florida before re- turning to Maine. Together they had journeyed in a covered wagon to a land claim in the Dakotas. Mr. Hutchins was a member of Co. H., lst Maine Cavalry, and served as orderly to General David Gregg for over two years of the war. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins were members of the Maine Three-Quarter Century Club, and she was a member of the local Woman's Relief Corps. They first came to Dexter thirty-four years ago. They had lived at West Garland, Fairfield Center, West Bowdoin, Richmond and Newport before settling, 10 years ago, in their home on Cedar street, Dexter. Mrs. Hutchins is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Richard O. Easley of Dexter and Mrs. Sands Chipman of Boston; three grandchildren, Ralph Easley of Corinna, Harold Easley and Mrs. Ermon Clough of Dexter, and seven great grandchildren, Robert, Clayton and Herbert Clough, Phyllis and Richard Easley of Dexter and Thelma and Agnes Easley of Corinna. One brother, Silas Quigg, of Nebraska, also survives her. Funeral services will be held at the Easley home on the Upper Garland road on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, standard time. The Rev. Horace H. Hayes of the Free Baptist church will officiate. The bearers will be her son-in-law, Richard O. Easley, her grandsons, Ralph and Harold Easley, and Ermon Clough, husband of her granddaughter, Doris. Interment will be in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
