Obituary
Mrs. Nellie A. Leathers The community was shocked to learn of the sudden passing to higher life of Mrs. Nellie A. Leathers at her home at Spooner's Mills, on March 10, after a very sudden attack of indiges- tion. Nellie A. Leathers was born in Clinton, Me., June 16, 1835, where she passed her early childhood. She united in marriage with W. Fairfield Leathers, June 23, 1859. To this union a daughter was born, who passed to higher life in early childhood; also two sons, Allson W., of Newport and Fred L., of this town, with whom she lived. She was a woman of strong Christian character, having a great love for her home and church, a devoted wife and mother, and in fact she was devoted to every good cause. For the past nine years she has been a patient, yet hopeful invalid from having broken her hip. She was faithfully and lovingly cared for through these years by her aged husband for whom much sympathy is felt. Although advanced in years she retained her keenness of intellect and, enjoyed reading, sewing, and knitting. She was loved by all who knew her. Memorial services were conducted from the home by Rev. J. L. Sanders on Tuesday, March 13th. Beautiful floral tributes spoke in silent testimony of the love and esteem in which she was held. Among the out of town relatives And friends was an aged brother, Rev. John Leathers, eighty-nine years of Age from Bangor; Mrs. Ella Leathers, F. M. Leathers and wife of Bangor.
