Obituary
Jane Jose Wing Dexter Woman Dies From Burns Mrs. Jane Jose Wing, 84, was fatally burned Sunday night in her home here, dying from the injuries at 1 o'clock Monday morning. As she was alone at the home her clothes caught it is not known just how it happened. Her niece, Mrs. Ethel True, who had been with her, had returned to her own apartment as she had some callers. After the callers left she heard a noise as if the door knob had been rattled. The door opened and Mrs. Wing fell on the floor, all ablaze. Aid was at once given, but it was too late and although the fire was extinguished, the burns were severe. There was a coal fire in Mrs. Wing's apartment, but it was very low at the time. A chair cushion in the room was found to be burned. It is thought that a coal in some way got into Mrs. Wing’s clothes while fixing the fire and had smouldered there for some time before breaking into a blaze Dr. A. C. Strout was called and did all he could to lessen the suffering of the aged woman. Mrs. Wing was the widow of the late Charles Wing, and was born in Dexter, in the same building where her tragic death occurred. She had lived in Winslow for some time and returned to Dexter last summer. She is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Ethel True, Miss Frances Jose, and Mrs. Jesse Hoyt. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. H. Dunham officiating.
