Obituary
Mrs. Carrie Haskell Foster Mrs. Foster passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Gerry, Sept. 8th, after a brief illness. She was born in Garland, Dec. 30, 1837, the daughter of the late D. Murray and Elizabeth Coolidge Haskell. Her husband, William Foster, of Boston, died in 1880. The twelve years of their married life were spent in Boston and Philadelphia. For sev- eral years following his death, Mrs. Foster passed her winters in New Jersey and New York, coming to her old home in Garland for the summers. About 30 years ago she came to Dexter to live with her brother, the late George Haskell. For the past 18 years her home has been with her sister, Mrs. Gerry. For many years Mrs. Foster has been a faithful and always helpful member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. She was also a member of the First Universalist church. She was a woman of fine traits and most lovable characteristics, and friends are many who will share in the loss of her home-going. Mrs. Foster leaves a sister, Mrs. M. H. Gerry, of this town, a brother, John Haskell, of Boston, and a niece, Mrs. Edith Foster. The funeral was held Sept. 10th, at the home, Rev. Tracy Pullman conducting the service. The bearers were: Messrs. John Springall, Samuel Small, Arthur Abbott and Samuel Moore.
