Obituary
Capt. John H. Williams The funeral services of Capt. John H. Williams were held at his home, 33 Pleasant street, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. H. Dunham officiating. He leaves besides his wife several nieces and nephews. In his early life he followed the sea, making several trips around Cape Horn and beginning before the mast worked up to be commander of ships. His last voyage was to the far East, comprising forty-four months. After leaving the sea he was employed for twenty years as bookkeeper for the Oriental Powder mills at South Windham, Me. The last years of his life have been spent in Dexter, where he was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. In early life he married Miss Caro P. Sheldon of Deerfield, Mass., who, with a son and daughter, was called to the higher life some years ago. His second marriage was to Miss Mary Sands of Dexter, who has been his devoted companion to the close of his life. At the time of his death he was the oldest man in town, having reached the advanced age of 91 years and 7 months.
