Obituary
Emery H. Maynard The many friends of Emery H. Maynard of the Maynard Ice Company were sorry to learn of his death, which occurred at his home on Cedar street Sunday evening at 9.30 o'clock, after an illness of two weeks. Although Mr. Maynard had been in failing health for the past three years, his death came as a shock to his many friends. The deceased was a man of sterling character and during his life in this town has endeared himself to a wide circle of friends by his generous-hearted nature and kindly disposition. He was born in Marshfield, Dec. 2, 1867, the son of Magloire and Loretta Harmon Maynard. His early life was passed in Marshfield until his marriage in 1895 to Elizabeth Garnett, when they took up their residence in Machias, living there until eight years ago when they moved to this town. Besides his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth G. Maynard, he is survived by three sons, Philip E. Maynard, Hollis Maynard and Alden Maynard, and several grandchildren, all of this town, by two sisters, Mrs. Otis Haven of Burlington, Mass., Mrs. Irvin McEachrain, of Machias and by three brothers Prof. Newell Maynard, professor of Oratory at Tuft's College, Henry Maynard of Machias and William Maynard, of Marshfield. Funeral services were conducted from the home on Cedar street Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Clifford V. Cross, pastor of the First Congregational church officiating. The family have the heartfelt sympathy of a wide circle of friends in the great bereavement.
