Obituary
William H. Crossland Many friends of William H. Crossland regret to learn of his death at an early hour Sunday morning, after an illness of several months. Mr. Crossland was born in Halifax, England, the son of John and Delia Sykes Crossland, but came to this country as a young boy and was educated in Massachusetts and Maine schools. After completing his education, Mr. Crossland entered the woolen mills at Dexter as an apprentice and soon advanced to positions of responsibility, later owning and operating a mill at North Dexter. About twenty-seven years ago he entered the employ of the government in the railway mail service, and for several years was on the Boston-Bangor route, later running to Vanceboro, Bucksport, and Washington county. Mr. Crossland was retired from the railway mail service because of ill health about seven years ago, since which time he has lived at Bucksport Center. Surviving Mr. Crossland are his wife, his father, John Crossland, a sister, Belle, of Millbury, Mass., a daughter, Mrs. H. B. Russ of Bangor, and three grandchildren, Helen, Robert and Betty Russ. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock on Tuesday at the residence in Bucksport Center.
