Obituary	Martha A. Puffer Passing to the higher life on Aug. 16, 1929, Martha A. Puffer of Corinna left many friends to mourn her death. She was born in Corinna Dec. 6, 1852, in the house now owned and occupied by her son, Alton Puffer the daughter of Asa F. Crowell and Nancy Sawtelle Crowell and one of ten children. She became the wife of Lewis Puffer June 1, 1873, living in Brewer the first year of marriage. The rest of her life has been spent on the farm where she passed away. Four children were born to them. One son, Emery, died several years ago. She leaves her husband and three children, Alton Puffer, Elwin Puffer and Mrs. Florence Lancaster, four grandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Jones, of Dexter and Mrs. Adelia Jones of Woburn, Mass. She was a woman of sterling character, always seeking to help others, would be the first to go to minister to those who needed her assistance in time of sickness or death. In past years she was a constant attendant of the Sunday school, formerly held at the South Ridge school house, and Martha could always be depended on to do her share at the social gatherings of the neighborhood. The funeral services were held at the home Aug. 18th, Rev. W. H. Johnson officiating. The large number of people attending and the banks of beautiful flowers testified to the esteem in which she was held.
