Military Services Held For 'Cap' Hasty - - Death Ends Notable Career As Judge, Soldier Full military services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the First Universalist Church for Judge Percy A. Hasty. The Rev. Theodore A. Webb, officiated and military rites were in charge of Dexter veterans. "Cap" Hasty one of Dexter's most respected and beloved citizens, died early Sunday morning at E. M. G. Hospital in Bangor, following a period of rapidly failing health. Honorary bearers were: William Southard of Bangor, Malcolm Stoddard, Togus; Jere Page, Skowhegan; Daniel Hubbard, Garland; Frank Jock, Kezar Falls; Ray Fanjoy, Thomas Ambrose, Reginald Gilbert, Philip Fraser, Robert Call, Elmer McClellan and Westley C. Richards, all of Dexter. Active bearers were: Everett Bennett, Mathias Mountain, Archie Burrill, Paul Dyer, Charles Coy and Shirley Bugbee, all of this town. The color bearers were Arthur Ambrose and Jack Clark; color guards, Wade Upton, Romeo Vigue; firing squad, Carl Parkman, commander, Dustin Farnham, Frederick Sprague, Roland Provost, Robert Patten, Eldred Crocker; chaplain, Virgil Gordon; bugler, Richard Dore. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Dexter. Judge Hasty, who had served on the municipal bench here for 10 years, came 40 years ago to Dexter, where he set up a law practice with the late Winfield S. Brown. He was born 68 years ago in Jackson, the son of George and Ella (Drake) Hasty, and was graduated from M. C. I. Pittsfield and the U. of M. He was formerly a teacher and also served as chairman of the local selectmen. note: photo accompanied article
