Obituary	Mrs. Zelma M. Additon The many friends of Mrs. Zelma Additon will be sorry to learn of her death, which took place at her home on Pine street last evening from an acute heart attack. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock Standard time, or 2 o'clock fast time. Friends are requested to omit flowers. The Eastern Gazette 5-21-1931,p.5 The funeral services for Zelma McKechnie Additon were held at the Methodist church on Saturday, May 23d, at 2 P. M., attended by many neighbors and friends, who came to sympathize with those. who mourned the loss of one who lay in her casket, surrounded by a profusion of beautiful maple leaves taken from the grove at the old home she loved so well. This was in accordance to a wish she had been heard to express. The deceased was born in Ripley on May 1, 1856, the daughter of Dexter and Harriet Dewitt McKechnie. She was married to Fred O. Additon of Dexter in 1877. All of their married life was spent in this town. Mr. Additon passed away in Nov. 1929. Their only son, Stanley, died in early manhood. This was a great sorrow. She has had deep griefs, and her heart has never ceased to mourn the loss of her loved one. Now all her sufferings o’er, She goes to meet them on the shining shore: Where death can never come, all sorrow cease From life's cares and troubles find release. Mrs. Additon is survived by one brother, C. Milton McKechnie, of Natick, Mass., and three nephews, H. I. McKechnie of Natick, Mass., Ray McKechnie, of Ohio and Harold McKechnie, of Sabattus. She was a member of the Wassookeag Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star and the Dexter Grange. The memorial services were conducted by the Rev. Mr. Hamilton and interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. W. E. Brewster, N. C. Bucknam, P. A. Hasty and W. E. Robinson acted as bearers. The Eastern Gazette 5-28-1931, p.5
