Obituary
Mrs. Sybilla Jose Mrs. Sybilla Shaw Jose, widow of the late Lewis W. Jose of this town, died at her home on Spring street late last Thursday night after a long illness, during which she has been tenderly and faithfully cared for by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mildred Jose. She was the daughter of An- drew and Amanda Barker Shaw of Exeter and a relative of David Barker, the poet. She often wrote poetry for the orders to which she belonged. She lived in Exeter until her mar- riage in 1866, since when she has lived in Dexter, for the most of the time in the house where she died. The only son, Hallie L. Jose, passed away fifteen years ago. Three grand- children survive, Lewis, Carleton and Sybilla Jose, all of whom lived with their mother and grandmother. Mrs. Jose was a charter member of Dexter Grange and held many offices in that order. She was deeply interested always in the Patrons of Husbandry and attended many of the state sessions as well as local and Pomona Granges. She was also for many years, a member of Mar- tha Washington Rebekah lodge, being a past noble grand of that order. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the home, Rev. Arthur J. Hamilton officiating.
