Obituary
Fred A. McKechnie The sudden passing of Fred A. McKechnie last Thursday evening at his home on Prospect street was learned with deep regret by all. He was taken ill Thursday morning, while mowing the lawn and was obliged to take his bed at once. Doctors visited him several times during the day in an effort to bring relief but he passed away at 7:45 Thursday evening. Mrs. McKechnie who in a few minutes from the time he was taken ill, would have been on her way to Waterville to attend the meeting of the State W. C. T. U., remained at his bedside during the day. Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Cronk, of New York City. The deceased was born in Alton, Mass., 76 years ago. He has been a resident of Dexter for many years and until his retirement a few years ago, was a faithful employee of the D. Whiting Creamery Co. of Boston. Funeral services were held from the residence Sunday noon, with Rev. Wm. J. Metz officiating. Many relatives and friends attended. The bear-ers were Howard McKechnie of Brewer; Forrest Dean and Hayward Dunham of Bangor, and Clifford Jones of Houlton, Gilman Pullen and Frank Pullen of Dexter. Burial was in Alton, the birthplace of the deceased.
