Obituary
Delmont Cleveland Delmont Cleveland, 62, former Dexter hotel proprietor, died at his home early Friday morning after a long illness. Born in Athens, the son of Henry and Mary Cleveland, Mr. Cleveland lived for a time in Skowhegan and Pittsfield but had been a resident of this town for the past 42 years. He was owner of the Exchange Hotel for 15 years, retiring from business a few years ago. He was a member of the Penobscot Lodge F. and A. M., the Knights of Pythias and for a time was a member of the Bangor Lodge of Elks. He is survived by his wife, Katherine; a brother, William, of Dexter; two nieces, Miss Vesta Blackden and Mrs. Vera Morgridge, both of Portland, and a nephew, Owen Blackden. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home on Upper Main street. Rev. William J. Metz of the First Universalist church offi- ciated. The bearers were Reuben McLean and Owen Blackden, Jr., of Presque Isle, Norman Quimby of Augusta, Vernon Nelson, Ernest Woodside and Carl Oliver of Dexter. After the funeral at the home, prayers were said at the grave in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
