Obituary
RIPLEY - Kenneth A. Brasier, 74, died April 11, 2000 at his home in Ripley, following a prolonged illness. He was born December 25, 1925 in Monson, son of Harry and Rowena (Adams) Brasier. He graduated from Monson Academy, served in the Army Air Corp. during WWII, and was a member of the American Legion. After the service he worked in Dexter at the cannery where he met his wife of 54 years, Nellie. From Dexter he moved to the Haseltine family farm where he and his brother-in-law helped to build the Ripley telephone lines, and where he operated the Grove Hill Greenhouse. He was a past member of the Ripley Grange, a member of the Ripley Trail Riders Snowmobile Club, and served many years as the Town Treasurer of Ripley. Ken was also retired from the Postal Service where he served as a rural mail carrier in Dexter. In 1994 he and his son-in law started the Grove Hill Elk and Deer Farm. He is survived by, his wife, Nellie (Haseltine) Brasier of Ripley; four sons, Daniel C. Brasier of Ripley, Richard D. Brasier of Parkman, William E. Brasier of Ripley, and James T. Brasier of Garland; three daughters, Linda Leavitt of Ripley, Diana McGhnchey of Ripley, and Donna Brasier of Ripley; a brother, Clifford Brasier of Pembroke, MA; 28 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be omitted at his request. Friends and relatives attended a celebration of his life at the farm in Ripley on April 13. Graveside services will be held later in the spring at the Ferndale Cemetery in Ripley.
