Obituary
Mrs. Flora M. Barron, R. N., 45, died Wednesday evening, June 2, at the Plummer Memorial Hospital after a several months' illness. She was born in Cambridge, Me., March 23, 1903, the daughter of Andrew J. and Lois A. Gilman. Following her graduation from the Eastern Maine General Hospital at Bangor, for about eight years she was employed in various Boston hospitals including the Deaconess, New England Baptist and the Massachusetts General. Mrs. Barron was associated with the Dexter hospital for the past 12 years, serving as assistant supervisor, for the last three years. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Dexter, the Elizabeth Towle Guild and the Nurses' Guild. Besides her husband, Arthur, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lois A. Gilman of Dexter; two sisters, Miss Aldine Gilman of Malden, Mass. and Mrs. Ella Yakemore of Cambridge, Me., a brother, Albert J. Gilman of Mercer, Me.; two nephews, Maynard Yakemore of Cambridge and Alvin Gilman of Mercer; and a niece, Lois Ann Gilman of Mercer. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence with the Rev. John Quigg of Sanford, a former pastor of the First Baptist church here, officiating. Rev. M. J. Durost, the present pastor, assisted. Honorary bearers were Dr. A. C. Strout, Dr. H. Lewis Taylor, Dr. Hans Shurman, all of Dexter; Dr. G. I. Higgins and Dr. Paul W. Burke of Newport. Acting bearers were Ralph Plummer of Bangor, Frederick Marsh of Corinna, Maynard and Clarence Prescott of Dexter. Interment was in a Pittsfield cemetery.
