Obituary
Mrs. Ralph B. Carleton The death Monday night of Mrs. Ethel Carleton of this town was learned with deep regret by many friends throughout this section of the state. Although she had been in poor health for more than a year, her sudden going was most unexpected, her critical illness, lasting only three, days. Ethel Hurd Carleton was born in West Enfield Dec. 25, 1889, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ethelbert Hurd. Most of her early life was spent in Dover-Foxcroft, where she attended the local schools. When a young woman she trained as nurse for two years in the Eastern Maine General hospital but did not quite complete her course. In November, 1916, she married Ralph Carleton of Dexter, who survives her. Since her marriage she has lived in Dexter, where she won the affection of all by her genial nature and lovable qualities. Besides her husband and son, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Hurd, of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother, Charles Hurd, of Milo and two sisters, Mrs. Nathaniel S. Fairbrother of Old town and Mrs. John Orr, of Caron, Saskatchewan, Canada. Mrs. Carleton was a member of Wassookeag chapter, O. E. S., and for several years was active in the Farm Bureau. She loved sociability and was a delightful hostess and neighbor. The family has the deep sympathy of all. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday afternoon at the Universalist church.
