Obituary
Mrs. Hattie T. Smith Mrs. Hattie T. Smith passed away Jan. 17th, at the age of 69 years and 2 months. She had been a great sufferer for many weeks and her departure was a happy release, but " 'Tis hard to break the tender cord When love has bound the heart 'Tis hard, so hard to say the words We must forever part." She will be sadly missed, not only by her relatives but also by her neighbors and wide circle of friends. She was a woman of sterling character, a faithful wife, loving mother and grandmother. Always ready to aid the needy. She was a faithful member of the Methodist church of Dexter although she was unable to attend regularly. Dana Southards, the boy she took to care for in her last years on earth, will never forget her fond and tender care of him. Funeral services were held at her home on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock. She has left to mourn her passing, a loving husband, Theodore Smith, of St. Albans, a daughter, Mrs. Vernon Jewell, of Dexter, a son, Charles L. Browne, of Philadelphia, a sister, Mrs. Ella M. Kendall, of Bangor, a brother, Willie C. Tucker, of Waterville, and six grandchildren, Mrs. Linwood Seavey, Mrs. Clifford Leighton, Miss Nathalie Browne and Clifton Jewell of Dexter, and the Misses Phyllis and Ruth Browne, of Philadelphia, Pa. The bearers were Linwood Seavey, Clifford Leighton, Clifford Goulette and Dana Southards.
