Obituary	FRED W. BARKER Sudden Death of a Well Known Dex- ter man; Native of Brewer The death of Fred W. Barker, 65, occurred very suddenly shortly after noon Wednesday at his home on Zion's Hill. He had been at his desk in the office of the Amos Abbott Co. as usual in the forenoon. Although he had been in somewhat impaired health for some time, the end came unexpectedly. Mr. Barker was born in Brewer, the son of Nelson and Mary Garman Barker and spent his early life there. He was for some time bookkeeper for the Union Works in Bangor and for the past 34 years had been accountant for the Amos Abbott Co. here, a highly regarded citizen with a wide circle of friends. He was a member of Wildey lodge I. 0. 0. F. of Brewer, Penobscot lodge F. and A. M. of Dexter and a former member of the Dexter club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maude Merrill Barker and two nephews, Fred N. and Richard N. Barker of Bucksport. Funeral services will be at the residence on Zion's Hill, Friday afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. W. J. Metz of the Universalist church will officiate.
