Obituary
William S. Belleveau Funeral services for the late William S. Belleveau, an ex-soldier in the World War, were held Sunday forenoon at 10 o'clock, from the home of his father, William H. Belleveau, on Gould avenue., Rev. Frederick Knox of the First Baptist church officiating and members of Edward J. Poulliot Post, American Legion, attended in a body and acted as escorts from the home to Mt. Pleasant cemetery, Legionnaires also serving as bearers. The firing squad of Headquarters Co., National Guard, under command of Lieut. Joseph D. Baker, fired the salute to the Dead at the grave and corporal Paul Giles of the U. S. Army band, who is home on a furlough, sounded Taps. The deceased was born in Dexter 38 years ago and served two years overseas in the World War, seeing much heavy fighting and suffering shell-shock. He has been in ill health ever since returning home and for several years was in a Boston hospital, but was recently released and at the time of his death was employed in a private home. He committed suicide while in a fit of despondency, and Lieut. Clarence H. Crosby of Dexter, who had some time ago been appointed his guardian, went to Boston Saturday to see to shipment of the remains to Dexter. Besides the father there is a brother, Lorie Belleveau, employed at present in Bangor.
