Obituary	C. N. McCrillis Friends in Dexter were shocked to hear of the death of Charles N. McCrillis, which occurred very suddenly Saturday at his home in West Medford, Mass. Mr. McCrillis was born in Dexter 64 years ago, spending his early life here. In 1896 he entered the railway mail service and went to Bangor to reside. He ran on several of the Maine runs, principally on the Caribou and Bangor R. P. 0. Some years ago he moved to Somerville, Mass., and ran out of Boston, and he also had assignments in the Boston post-office and the Boston terminal. About three years ago he was retired and has since lived in West Medford. Mr. McCrillis was of a kindly disposition and made friends everywhere. He married Lizzie M. Stormann of Alton for his first wife, she being a sister of Mrs. George P. Gould of Bangor. She died a number of years ago and he later married Jennie Van Hasen of Keene, N. H., who survives. He leaves besides the widow, to mourn his passing, two daughters, Mrs. Marion Beyea and Miss Ruth, both of West Medford; a sister, Mrs. William Mooney of Union, N. H., and a brother, Harry McCrillis of Woodfords, Me. The funeral took place at the home in West Medford at 2:30, Tuesday afternoon. The Eastern Gazette 1-4-1934, p.1 Charles N. McCrillis Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 2nd in West Medford, Mass., for Charles N. McCrillis, a former Dexter resident, who died suddenly of heart disease. Mr. McCrillis was born in Moscow, Maine, sixty-four years ago, and moved with his parents, Nathaniel L. and Ann Towle McCrillis, to Dexter when about four years of age. He was educated in the Dexter schools, and when a young man was associated with his father in the pant manufacture business. He later became a Railway Mail clerk, from which sevice he retired in April, 1931, completing thrity-five years in the faithful performance of his duties. The funeral, which was held at his home, was conducted by Rev. Ambler Garnett of the Trinity Methodist church, in which church and men's class Mr. McCrillis was an active member. Mr. Washburn and Mrs. Heywood, church friends sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Lover of my Soul." Among the many floral tributes was a beautiful wreath of roses and sweet peas sent from the Dexter Get-together Association of Boston, of which he was one of the first members and served as president for the past two years. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias. To know Mr. McCrillis was to realize his character, as was shown by the many friends and neighbors who attended the services as well as delegates from the church, Knights of Pythias, Railway Mail Service, and schools of West Medford. Besides his widow and daughter, Ruth, he is survived by a married daughter, Marion Beyea, and two granddaughters, Dorothy and Janet, of Wakefield, Mass., a sister, Mrs. Emma Mooney of Union, N.
