Obituary
FOUND DEAD IN HER HOME Miss Janette S. Barton, 78 Dies Suddenly Wednesday Miss Janette S. Barton, 78, formerly a well known instructor in the public school of this town was found dead on the kitchen floor of her home on Beech street Wednesday morning, death being due to natural causes according to medical examiner, Dr. H. E. Whalen, who was called. Dr. Whalen, following examination of the remains stated that death had probably occurred several hours previous to being discovered. Harry Clukey, a neighbor's son who had been engaged by Miss Barton to carry fuel and do errands, made his regular call early in the forenoon but found the doors locked. He notified another neighbor who, in turn, called Nathan Daggett, a distant cousin of the deceased. Mr. Daggett summoned Deputy Sheriff Fred Marsh, who together with Dr. Whalen gained entrance to the house through a bathroom window. A disordered house and the presence of several kinds of medicine indicated that Miss Barton had been ill. The remains were removed to the undertaking parlors of Ramsay and Gates and funeral services will be held at the home of a distant cousin, Miss Genieve McCrillis, on Pleasant street Friday afternoon. Miss Barton was a native of Dexter, the daughter of the late Artemus and Sarah (Coolidge) Barton. She taught in the public schools here for some years and later went to Chicago where she made a home for her two brothers who lived there. Upon their deaths she returned to Dexter, purchasing the house on Beech street where she died. Her nearest surviving relative is Mrs. Dora Doering of Garnet, Kansas.
