Frank E. Burns Frank E. Burns, for many years a member of the Chenery Manufactuing Co. of Portland and traveling salesman throughout Maine, died Tuesday morning at a Bangor hospital after several years' illness. He was born in Portland 76 years ago, the son of Henry and Laura Corliss Burns of that city. After attending the Portland schools he entered the employ of the Chenery Company, wholesalers of drygoods, and after acting as their salesman for a number of years was made a member of the company. Later he purchased an interest in a store in Bath which he conducted very successfully for several years, then purchased another large department store in Rochester, N. H., moving his family there. From Rochester he came to Pittsfield, Maine, where he entered business retiring five years ago because of ill health. He married Miss Hattie Cushman of Dexter and while traveling maintained a home here for 26 years. His wife survives him, also a daughter, Miss Gertrude Burns, who are living in Dexter. He also leaves two brothers, George and Charles Burns, a sister, Mrs. Emery D. Smith and two nephews, Robert and Frank Everett Burns, all of Portland. He was a member of the Quarter Century Traveling Men's Association and a charter member of the Dexter club and later was made an honorary member. The remains were brought to Dexter, Tuesday afternoon and services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Ramsay and Gates funeral parlors, Rev. W. J. Metz, officiating. The bearers were Willis B. Ayer, Glen C. Ayer Charles S. Brewster and Wilford G. Slater.
