Obituary	Mrs. Emily Slater Mrs. Emily Augusta Slater, widow of the late George M. Slater, died suddenly Friday forenoon, after a long period of failing health. She was born in Tivoli, N. Y., 71 years ago, the daughter of the late Edwin and Annie Cole Martin. She has been a resident of Dexter 51 years. Mrs. Slater was for many years an attendant of the Church of The Messiah Episcopal and funeral services Sunday at 2 o'clock were conducted by Rev. G. M. Brinley of Castine, who is supplying at the local Episcopal church, occasionally. The services were at the late home, Spring street. The deceased was a Past Noble Grand of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge and only last week attended a picnic supper meeting of the Past Noble Grands Association. For 28 years in succession she held the same office on the Rebekah degree team. Near relatives surviving are: Three sons, George, Rexford and Wilford Slater; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Simms and Mrs. William R. Spencer; five grandchildren; two brothers, Charles R. Martin and Edward Martin, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Merrill, all of Dexter.
