Obituary	Mrs. Phronia L. Hagerthy Mrs. Phronia L. Hagerthy died Friday evening at her home on Main street. While she had not been in good health for a long time, her last illness was of short duration. Mrs. Hagerthy was born in Dexter May 23, 1856, daughter of the late William and Marcia Eldridge. She was a sister of the late John P. Eldridge of Ellsworth. She was married in 1877 to Dr. Walter M. Haines of Dexter, who had a few months before established practice in Ellsworth, and came here at once as a bride. Dr. Haines died January 19, 1897, and Mrs. Haines was married two years later to Dr. A. C. Hagerthy of Ellsworth, who died July 8, 1928. During her long residence here Mrs. Hagerthy had made a wide circle of friends. Of kind and generous nature, she performed many kind acts, quietly and unostentatiously. Her benevolences went unheralded, many of them known only to the beneficiaries. Mrs. Hagerthy leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. R. E. Mason, and a niece, Mrs. (Eldridge) Downey, both of Ellsworth. The funeral was held at the home Monday morning, Rev. George A. Riley of the Unitarian church officiating. The body was taken to Dexter for interment beside her first husband. -Ellsworth American.
