Mrs. Essie Stevens Gross Friends of Mrs. Essie Stevens will be sorry to know of her sudden death which occurred early Wednesday morning at her home on Spring street. She was born in Guilford 67 years ago and married for her first husband, Andrew Stevens of that town who died in 1925. She has lived in Dexter about 30 years and several years ago married Dr. Ray Gross, who survives her. She leaves a. daughter, Mrs. Ralph Gilman of Waterville, a son, Elwood Stevens of Dexter; three grandchildren, Alvah and Dorita Gilman and Miriam Stevens; a sister, Mrs. Maude Chadbourne and a brother, Arthur Witham, both of Old Town. Mrs. Gross was a member of Crystal Temple, Pythian Sisters and of H. F. Safford Woman's Relief Corps. Funeral services will be held from the home Friday at 2 P. M., Rev. William J. Metz of the Universalist Church officiating.
