Obituary
Daniel S. Clark Friends of Daniel S. Clark, 61, deplore his sudden death, which occurred at his home on lower mian street last Thursday evening. He was born in Dexter, the son of Edward and Vesta Staples Clark, and had always lived here. He was in the local postoffice for the past 23 years. He received his appointment as sub-clerk Nov. 7, 1913; as regular clerk Oct. 20, 1914. He was made assistant postmaster Feb. 23, 1918 which position he held until about six months ago when he was forced to take leave of absence because of ill health. He also served as acting postmaster for about six months following the resignation of A. R. Page as postmaster until the appointment of a postmaster. He was also secretary of the local board of the United States Civil Service commission for several years. Previous to his entering the postoffice he was in several woolen mills as an overseer in the finishing department. He was a member of the Plymouth Lodge, I. O. O. F., and the Martha Washington Rebekah lodge. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisey Judkins Clark, and a brother, Ridgley Clark of Seymour, Conn., and two nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home on Lower Main street, Rev. William J. Metz of the First Universalist church officiating. The bearers were all members of the local postoffice force, Glen Ayer, Frank Howard, Merle Knox and Westley Richards.
