Obituary
George Jewett George Jewett, an aged and life-long resident of Dexter, died in a Portland hospital Monday, after a brief illness. Mr. Jewett, accompanied by his wife, went to West Buxton last fall to spend the winter with their son, Frank Jewett, and while there was taken ill and removed to Portland for hospital treatment. Mr. Jewett was born 84 years ago, the son of Charles and Mary Poulin Jewett. He was a successful farmer, operating a large farm on the old Charleston road for many years. He was active in Dexter grange affairs. The funeral was held Wednesday at the home of his son, Lynn Jewett, on the Bryant road, Rev. H. H. Hayes of Milo officiatnig. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Dexter. Bearers were Herbert Jewett of Bucksport, Frank Jewett of West Buxton and their sons, George Herbert, Jr., and Frank, Jr. Besides his widow and the two sons mentioned, he is also survived by a son, Herbert Jewett of Bucksport and a daughter, Mrs. Elva Butterfield, of Springfield, and nine grandchildren. Out-of-town relatives attending the services included David Thompson and son, Robert, of Watertown, Mass., Mrs. Robert Hutton of Portland, Costello Sawtelle and his daughter, Mrs. Gladys Heath of Shirley.
