Obituary
Dexter Boy, 5, Dies When His Sled Hits Truck John Ross DuBourdieu, 5, only child of Mr. and Mrs. A. R. DuBourdieu, of High street, was almost killed Monday forenoon, when he slid beneath the front wheels of a truck driven by Wallace L. Robinson, of Newport at the intersection of Center and Spring streets. Another child, Bernard Lord, 5, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lord, who was sliding with the DuBourdieu boy, received a deep gash in the back of his head, when he slid beneath the same truck, his sled stopping under the rear end of the slowly moving machine. The badly injured boy, his tiny body crushed by the wheel of the heavy machine, was taken to the office of Dr. H. E. Whalen, nearby, where he died shortly after arrival. The accident was investigated by State Trooper Anson C. Dorr, who questioned the driver of the truck, his wife, who was in the cab, and several eye witnesses to the tragedy, and stated that the accident was entirely unavoidable on the part of Mr. Robinson. The boy is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. DuBourdieu, by his grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Upton, and an uncle, E. L. Upton, all of Dexter, and by two aunts, Miss Marion DuBourdieu, a teacher in Bangor High school, and Mrs. Edna Brown, employed in Bangor Public Library. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday atfernoon at the home by Rev. H. H. Hayes of Milo, assisted by Rev. H. E. Weston. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The bearers were W. E. Robinson and E. W. Herrick.
