Obituary
Joseph L. Higgins, 71, died, early Tuesday morning, February 10, at his home on Grove street following a long illness. He was born at St. Victor, Canada, the son of Thomas and Elise (Poulln) Higgins, and came to Dexter shortly afterwards where he met and married, Lena Clukey who survives him. Mr. Higgins was employed as a weaver for 48 years in the local woolen mills. He was boss weaver for many years in the Dumbarton Mill. Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Edgar of Bangor; Dennis, Buffalo, N. Y.; Ludger of Sangerville; four daughters, Mrs. PhiIip Pooler, Dexter; Mrs. Amos Rowell, Dover-Foxcroft; Mrs. Fred Peters, New Rochelle, N. Y.; Mrs. Joseph Hill, Skowhegan; four sisters Sister Anita of the Sisters of Mercy in Fairfield; Mrs. Stephen Ambrose, Mrs. Andrew Flynn, Mrs. Thomas Groletu, Mrs. Thomas Johnson; two brothers, Edmound Higgins, Sarnia, Ont. and Delphis Higgins of Dexter. A requiem high mass was sung Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Anne's Catholic church with the Rev. C. J. Enright officiating, assisted by Rev. R. Martineau and Rev. C. H. Bennett of St. Thomas parish in Dover-Foxcroft. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in the spring.
