Obituary
Sudden Death of Wilbur Copeland The Community was shocked to learn of the sudden death of Wilbur Copeland, R. F. D. carrier, which occurred Tuesday evening. He had been as well as usual all day, covering his route and afterwards taking his wife on a ride to Dixmont. His death, which was caused by heart trouble, came within a few minutes after he had eaten his supper. Mr. Copeland was 61 years old. He was born in Corinna, the son of the late Llewellyn and Carrie Copeland. In 1914 he married Miss Mamie Rollins of this town, and they have resided in Dexter since that time. For the past 17 years Mr. Copeland has been a Rural Free Delivery mail carrier. He was an active member of Dexter Grange for about 35 years, being the holder of a Silver certificate. He has held several offices in this organization, occupying the chair of Worthy Master last year. He was a member of the Maine Letter Carriers' Association, and the Penobscot County Association. For many years he has been a faithful supporter of the local Methodist church. He is survived by his wife Mamie R. Copeland; one sister, Mrs. Frank Goodwin of Stockton Springs, and four nephews and nieces, Carl Burrill of Boston; Edgar Goodwin and Alberta Goodwin of Stockton Springs, and Mrs. Leon Mitchell of Patten. Funeral services will be held at the home on Prospect street Friday afternoon at 2:30 DST.
