Obituary
Andrew B. Widdoes Funeral services for Andrew Byard Widdoes were held at the home of his son, Ernest L. Widdoes on Free street this afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Kenneth R. Hutchinson officiating. Interment was in the family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. The bearers were Henrry Poulliot, John Ronco, Frank Clukey, J. P. Rand, Clarence Crosby and Joseph Kanaly. The profusion of beautiful flowers spoke of the esteem in which he was held by his many friends. Mr. Widdoes, who was seventy-five, died Monday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Lawrence, in Waterville where he has made his home since the death of his wife, the former Ella M. Lang, in November 1936. He has been in ill health for several months. He was born in Newark, Deleware and was in the textile business for many years, coming to Dexter in 1910 to accept the position of superintendent of the Amos Abbott Woolen Company with which firm he was associated until his retirement in 1923. He was a member of the Masonic lodge of Dexter and for many years was a regular attendant at the Methodist church. Surviving are three sons, James Widdoes of Bangor, Ernest L. Widdoes of this town, and Howard V. Widdoes of Buffalo, N. Y.; two daughters, Mrs. Carl Lawrence of Waterville and Mrs. Harley Hyde of Swamscott, Mass; four brothers, George Widdoes of Old Town, Seymour Widdoes of Bridgton, Frank and Ottie Widdoes of Newark, Del.; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Mettinger of Philadelphia, and eight grandsons and granddaughters, Ernestine and Byard Widdoes of Dexter, Marcella Hyde, Jane and Cynthia Widdoes of Swamscot; Janet, Pierce and Howard Widdoes Jr. of Buffalo and Carl Lawrence Jr. of Waterville.
