Obituary
Walter B. Gould Walter B. Gould 79, one of Dexter's highly regarded citizens died at his home on Maple street Tuesday afternoon after an illness of several months, his death following that of his wife by just a month. He was a native of Corinna, the son of Joshua and Alice Fish Gould. For the past thirty-four years he has resided in Dexter where be has been prominent in business and fraternal circles. A well known civil engineer, he had accurate knowledge of surveys of the town and much surrounding territory. He possessed many valuable maps and records and his services as a land surveyor were in much demand. He served the town for years as a valued member of the water board and was a former member of the school committee. For a time he was manager of the Dexter Co-operative store, later he entered the insurance business and for years has occupied an office on the Main street. A Mason for fifty-six years, he was greatly interested in every branch of the order being a member of Penobscot lodge, F. and A. M., St. John's Royal Arch chapter, DeMolay Cornmandry, Knights of Templars of Skowhegan, and Wassookeag chapter, 0. E. S. He was also actively affiliated with Plymouth lodge, I. 0. 0. F., Martha Washington Rebekah lodge, and Dexter Grange. He was a faithful attendant at the Baptist church, of fine character, devoted to his family, and a genial friend, who will long be remembered. He is survived by his step-daghter, Mrs. A. W. Stone of Dexter; a granddaughter, Mrs. Eric Hope, and two great-grandchildren, Joyce and Gordon Hope of Saylesville, R. I. Funeral services will be at the home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by Rev. Ondon P. Stairs, of the First Baptist church, assisted by Rev. Kenneth R. Hutchinson of the First Universalist church.
