Obituary
Mrs. Salome Gould Services for Mrs. Salome Gould, 89, wife of Walter B. Gould, who died at her home on Maple street Saturday morning, were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with the Rev. O. P. Stairs officiating. She had been ill with pneumonia for about ten days. The Eastern Star service was conducted by members of Wassookeag chapter. The profusion of beautiful flowers were silent tributes of the esteem in which she was held by her many friends. The bearers were W. B. Ayer, Charles Coy, C. N. Pierce and M. G. Otto. Mrs. Gould was born in Dexter, the daughter of Col. John and Esther Shaw. When she was six years old she moved with her-parents to Corinna where she lived for several years before returning to Dexter. She has served as chaplain of Wassookeag chapter No. 44, O. E. S. for 14 years, an office which she conducted with dignity and impressiveness. She has also been secretary of the chapter. She was a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge, Dexter Grange, Dexter Woman's Literary club, H. G. Safford Relief corps, and until recently was affiliated with the Dexter Parent Teacher association and the Dexter Garden club. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church and served as president of the Ladies' Aid society for many years. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arthur W. Stone; a granddaughter, Mrs. Eric Hope of Saylesville, R. I.; and two grandchildren.
