Obituary
Mrs. Frances B. Damon Mrs. Frances B. Damon, 82, wife of Lyman R. Damon, passed away Wednesday morning, at her home following a long illness. She was born in Dexter, the daughter of Nathan G. and Mary E. Brackett, and lived nearly all her life in this town. A writer of ability, in both prose and poetry, much of her literary work has been published and she won several national awards for poems. Aways deeply interested in the work of the W. C. T. U. she has served the union in several local and state offices, and was for sometime State Parliamentarian of the W. C. T. U. Mrs. Damon was a former chairman of the Governing Board of the Woman's Reformatory at Skowhegan and while in that office she was influential in the erection of three cottages, one of which is named the Damon cottage in her honor. She retired from the board in 1920. In religion she was by preference a Quaker. Surviving are her husband, a niece, Mrs. H. L. Tillson, and a nephew, Edward Pierce, all of Dexter. Private funeral services will be held from the home on Park street Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, Rev. K. R. Hutchinson officiating. Friends may call between the hours of nine and twelve o'clock Friday forenoon. The family requests that no flowers be sent.
