DEATH OF PROMINENT DEXTER BUSINESS MAN Winthrop L. Fay Passed Away in a Boston Hospital The funeral of Winthrop L. Fay, 64, one of Dexter's most prominent and highly respected business men, was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Universalist church with the Rev. Kenneth R. Hutchinson officiating. Active bearers were, his nephew, Norman Fay Plouff, George Dufton, Norman Capen, and William Spencer, with Fred Herrick, Nathan Bucknam, Bert L. Call, Dean W. Rollins, Ervin Tate and Nathan Daggett acting as honorary bearers. There was a large attendance of friends, employees of Fay & Scott shops and members of the N. Y. A. attending in a body. Floral tributes were in unusual profusion. Interment was in the family lot at Mount Pleasant cemetery, where last Masonic honors were held. Mr. Fay died Saturday morning at the Baker Memorial hospital in Boston, where he had been a patient for a week, following a long period of ill health. He was born in Abbot, the only son of Norman H. and Ada West Fay. He was a graduate of Dexter High school, and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, returning to Dexter to become associated with his father, Norman H. Fay, of Fay & Scott, manufacturers of machine tools and special machinery. In 1900 he was made vice president of the company and following the death of his father in 1919, became president, an office which he occupied for twenty years. In 1916 he accompanied Company A, as first lieutenant, to the Mexican border. He was a valued member of Penobscot lodge, F. and A. M. and St. John's Royal Arch chapter of Dexter, St. John's Commandery and Annah Temple, Mystic Shrine of Bangor, the Dexter club, Elkinstown club, the Dexter Chamber of Commerce, treasurer and one of the board of incorporators of the Plummer Memorial hospital, and was president of the Dexter Loan & Building association. He attended the First Universalist church. Mr. Fay's career was one of continued activity to the end, serving all organizations with which he was connected to the best of his ability. Of a kindly and genial temperament, his friends were countless and of long standing. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edith Hale Fay; a step-daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Dufton; a sister, Mrs. Marion Plouff and one nephew, Norman Fay Plouff, all of Dexter. Among out-of-town relatives and friends attending the services were, Mrs. Pearl Klerx, West Danville, Mass.; Mrs. Frank Fay, Worcester, Mass.; George Dufton, Andover, Mass.; Edwin Freeman, Lowell, Mass. M. F. Herring, Mrs. Nan Sloan, Braintree Highlands, Mass.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hayes, Woodtords; Mr. and Mrs. George Sanford, Mrs. Hollis Page, Mr. and Mrs. Will Batcheldor, Harry Bush, W. L. Sampson, Dover-Foxcroft; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Millett, Garland; Mr.and Mrs. Belmont Smith, Mrs. Arthur Nickerson, Mrs. Fred Barker, Mrs. Blanche Hutchinson, Dr. and Mrs. W. J.
