He came to Dexter as a young man and for a time was employed at the Amos Abbott woolen mill, later entering the employ of Eben Tibbetts, a furniture dealer. When the business was sold to Charles H. Ramsay was also a member of the firm. When Mr. Hutchinson reached his seventy-fifth birthday he retired from active business and his daily presence on the Main Street was greatly missed by his business associates and friends. He was deeply interested in all branches of the Masonic order and for more than thirty years served Penobscot Lodge, F. and A. M. as secretary. He was also a member of St. John's Royal Arch Chapter, St. John's Cornmandery, and Anah Temple, Mystic shrine of Bangor. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Kenneth R. Hutchinson of the First Universalist church officiating.
