Obituary
Miss E. Alice Bradford, 76, died Sunday evening at the local hospital after an illness of a month. Miss Bradford was born in Turner, in 1871, the daughter of Chas. and Florence Thorpe Bradford. She was graduated from the Turner schools and Farmington Normal school. For about 30 years she taught at the Spring Street school where she was principal for several years and previously at the Free Street school. She also taught in Turner. Retiring from the teaching profession some 10 years ago, she has since spent her winters at St. Petersburg, Fla., with distant relatives, Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Fortier. She was a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge, the F. Club, Dexter Teachers' club the Turner church. She was always a very active worker in the Dexter Universalist church and the Church School. She is survived by a nephew Chas. P. Bradford, Manchester, Me., a niece, Mrs. Harriet Barnes and two grand nieces of Great Barrington, Mass., a sister-in-law, Mrs. William Bradford of Turner, Me., and several cousins. Funeral services were held at the First Universalist Church at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 27th. Committal services were held the same day at Turner Center, where interment was in the family lot. The bearers were K. Stanford Blake, Harold W. Blaisdell, Edwin C. Call, Frederick J. Quigley, Joseph P. Rand, George E. Safford, Reynold F. Thompson and Rufus H. Tillson.
