Obituary
George W. Gordon The many friends of George W. Gordon were grieved to learn of his death which occurred in a Bangor hospital, April 16th, after a few days' illness of pneumonia. Mr. Gordon was the son of Amos G. and Hannah Sampson Gordon. His boyhood was passed in Garland and for several years he lived in Dexter, where he was emplodye at Fay & Scott's and local mills. About twenty years ago he moved to Fairfield and since that time he has been employed in the mechanical department of the Maine Central Railroad shop in Waterville. He was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekah lodges of Dexter and was connected with the Baptist church in Fairfield. He is survived by his wife, who was Jennie Jackson, and two daughters, Mrs. Carl Steady of Lakeport, N. H., and Mrs. John Eddy of Salem, Ohio. There are four grandchildren. One son, George, died severa1 years ago at the age of nineteen. There are two brothers, Frank L., and Wm. Gordon of Garland, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Cunningham of Dexter, nad several nieces and nephews. The funeral was held at the home, 23 Elm St., Fairfield, at 11 A. M., April 18th and was largely attended by relatives and friends. He was buried in the family lot in Fairfield. Mr. Gordon was a man highly respected, of pleasing personality, a kind neighbor and friend, and his passing is a great loss to the family and community.
