Obituary
DEXTER FARMER FATALY INJURED Joseph R. Sherburne was fatally injured Friday morning when he was struck by the butt of a falling tree, swinging sharply when the upper branches lodged temporarily in another tree. Mr. Sherburne was cutting wood on the family woodlot about a half-mile from his hme on the Ripley road with his son, Weston Sherburne. Dr. H. L. Taylor, who was called, said death had been almost instantaneous, from a rupture of pulmonary vessels over the heart. His son had to run the hallf-mile to the Sherburne home to summon aid to remove the heavy tree trunk from his father's body. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Adella Sherburne, three sons, Harry, Myron and Weston, all of this town; two brothers, Isreal Sherburne of Abbott, and Arthur Sherburne of Hartland, and a sister, Mrs. Cora Titus of Enfield. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at one o'clock from the funeral parlors of Ramsay & Gates Company, with the Rev. Ondon P. Stairs officiating. The bearers were Ethan Robinson, Hanford Crouse: Harry Merrill and Walter Eaton. Mr. Sherburne was born in West Levant February 17, 1870, the son of Joseph R. and Mary Trickey Sherburne. He had made his home in Dexter for many years.
