Obituary	Mrs. Sara Barton Mrs. Sara Barton, 84, widow of R. Melrose Barton, died at her home on the Upper Garland Road Saturday night, October 5, after a long illness. Mrs. Barton was born in Ripley January 24, 1856, the daughter of the late Harvey and Dorothy Hanson Chandler, but came to the East Dexter home when she married Mr. Barton many years ago. Her husband died several years ago. For the past few years Mrs. Barton has been tenderly cared for by her niece, Mrs. Fred M. Avery, and Mr. Avery, who with their family, came from Veazie to make their home with her and Mr. Barton. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Persie Macomber of Springfield, Mass., and Mrs. Lydia Additon of Dexter, besides several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Barton had been since girlhood, a member of the First Baptist church. She was also a member of Dexter Grange and the Pleasant Neighbors Club. A sincere Christian and a kind neighbor and friend, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the First Baptist church, Rev. Ondon P. Stairs officiating. There were many beautiful floral tributes. The bearers were Herbert Russell, Richard Easley, Maurice Carr, and Harry Johnson, all neighbors in the community in which Mrs. Barton will be so much missed. Interment was in the Barton lot in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
