Obituary
Mrs. Rose Burns Mrs. Rose Burns passed away Thursday, February 6, at the home of Bertell Bragg and Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Bowdoin in Lincoln, following a brief illness from the flu. She was born in Dexter September 19, 1858 the daughter of Edward and Ann Bowdoin Dinsmore, on the farm formerly owned by George Knox. She attended the Dexter schools and resided here until about four years ago when she went to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Bowdoin. For several years, she made her home with Mrs. J. L. Leighton on upper Main street, and she returned to Dexter each year for a visit. Mrs. Burns was married three times. Her first husband was Herbert Gilbert, and to them was born one child who passed away is infansy. She later married William Lawrence and after his death became the wife of Madison Burns. Her brothers were Charles, George and Roscoe Dinsmore and she had one sister, Faustena Mabelle Welch. The only surviving relatives are a sister-in-law, Mrs. George Dinsmore of Canaan; a nephew, Carl Dinsmore Henderson, Minn.; and cousins, Mrs. Alice Oliver of Garland, Mrs. Stanton Sawyer of Dexter and Harry Dinsmore of Hartland. Funeral services were held at the Lincoln funeral parlor Saturday, February 8, with the Rev. Marsh, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. The floral pieces were beautiful. Out-of-town relatives attending the services were Mrs. Lillian Dinsmore of Canaan, Mr. and Mrs. Dana Pomroy of Pittsfield, Mr. and Mrs. Arleigh Howes of Palmyra. The remains were placed in the tomb at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
