Obituary
William H. Curtis Funeral services for William H. Curtis, 85, a life long resident of Dexter, and a highly respected business man, were. held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. K. R. Hutchinson of the Universalist church officiating. The bearers were Vernon Curtis, Walter Curtis, Ogden Carr and Fred Butler and interment was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery Mr. Curtis was born in Dexter the son of Nathaniel and Jane Curtis and in his younger days resided on the Garland Road. For the past twenty five years he has been a prominent coal and wood dealer, a business which he continued till his death though he had not taken active charge since last July when he was compelled to give up because of illness. He passed away at his home on Highland Avenue Monday morning. He was interested in local civic affairs and served several terms on the board of selectmen In fraternal organizations he was affiliated with Dexter Grange, Plymouth Lodge, I. 0. 0. F., and Penobscot Lodge, F. and A. M. His wife, Ellen Sampson Curtis passed away about sixteen years ago. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Harriet Heath of St. Albans, and several nieces and nephews.
