ROLAND L. ATWATER DEXTER - Roland L. Atwater, 87, died June 13, 2001 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born in Sangerville, June 10, 1914, son of Joseph and Eva (Sanborn) Atwater. He graduated from N.H. Fay High School in Dexter. One of 14 children, he learned the building trade from his father. He constructed houses and also worked at the Abbott Woolen Mill in Dexter. He established Acadia Street in Dexter and built most of the houses there. He and his brother-in-law, Omar Roberts, established Cable TV in Dexter making it the 2nd community in Maine to have the service. He loved gardening and was well known in the local area for his large garden. He is survived by two daughters, Peggy and her husband James Robinson of Dover-Foxcroft and Patti Robinson of Dover Foxcroft; a brother and his wife Maurice and Jean Atwater of Florida; a sister and her husband, Julia and Omar Roberts of Corinna; five grandchildren, Jennifer Cleaves of Sangerville, James Robinson Jr. of Parkman, Mark Robinson of Dover-Foxcroft, Cheryl Robinson of New York, and Kevin Robinson of Dexter; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 1 PM Wednesday June 20, at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter. 924-6890
