Obituary	GERTRUDE B. FIELD DEXTER - Gertrude B. Field, 82, died peacefully May 25, 2002 at her Grove Street residence. She was born July 6, 1919 at Corinna a daughter of Darrol and Georgianna (Thurston) Burton. She graduated from N. H. Fay High School in Dexter, Class of 1937. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at the Dexter Town Office, the Dexter Western Auto Store, and later as a purchasing agent for the Dexter Shoe Company, retiring in the early 1980's. Gertrude was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her first husband, Grover C. Field, Jr., who died during World War II; her second husband of forty five years, Walter F. Field, Sr.; a brother Vernon Burton; an infant sister, Donna. She is survived by a son, Walter F. Field, Jr. and fiancee Lois Merrifield, both of Dexter; a daughter, Linda Poulin and husband Ricky of Corinna; a brother Olan Burton and wife Georgianna of Dexter; a sister Winifred Mitchell and husband Malcolm of Corinth; a sister-in-law Gertrude Burton of Holiday, Florida; 2 half sisters, Darolyn Weston of Winslow, and Gail Maloon of Pittsfield; 2 half brothers, Leslie Burton of Topsham, and Douglas Burton of Palmer, Massachusetts; a step-sister; Maxine Cookson and husband Lloyd of Cambridge; a former daughter-in-law, Maryellen Field of Caribou; 2 granddaughters, Dr. Sherri Dumont and husband Pierre of Caribou; and Stacy Poulin of Corinna; a great grandson Camden Dumont of Caribou; as well as many nieces and nephews. At her request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service was held May 30th at the Dexter United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lois Merrifield officiating. Burial was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Dexter United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 655, Dexter, ME 04930.
