Obituary
Mrs. Rose Hamilton Funeral services for Mrs. Rose Hamilton, 85, widow of Wilson E. Hamilton, were held at the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilkins, Spring street Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Gordon C. Rearddon of the First Universalist church officiating. Rebekah services were also conducted. There was a large attendance of relatives and friends and beautiful floral tributes were in profusion. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery and the bearers were Addison Gilman, Earl Z. Crowell, A. W. Stone, Charles G. Chandler, Morton Bullard and Albert H. Bentley. Mrs. Hamilton was born in Swanville October 4, 1856, the daughter of Phoebe and Paul J. Freeman. She came to Dexter when a young girl and has made her home here ever since. She died April 9th after a week's illness from pneumonia. Mr. Hamilton died in 1929. Since that time Mrs. Hamilton has made her home with her daughter and husband. She has long been a member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge and was always actively interested in the lodge affairs. She was a member of Faithful Link Past Noble Grands' association and of Martha Washington Sewing club. Besides the daughter she is survived by one son, Chester Hamilton of Skowhegan; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Ballard, of Searsmont, and Mrs. Mattie Swanton of Bath; two brothers, Fred L. Freeman, of Ashbury Park, N. J., and Eugene Freeman, of Greenfield, Maine; also a half brother, Everett Downes of Dover, N. H. Among those from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hamilton, Mrs. Mabel Capen, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hamilton, Misses Fayette and Rachel Whitney of Skowhegan, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Buxton of Corinna, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamilton of Canaan.
