Walter E. Scott Walter Ervin Scott, 61, of Carlisle, Pa., died Thursday in Washington, D. C., after a year of failing health. He was born in Dexter, the younger son of the late Walter and Sylvia Sturtevant Scott, where he attended the local schools and was a graduate of the Dexter high school. After attending the University of Maine, where he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, he received his B. S. degree in civil engineering, in 1904. His early employment was in railroad construction until the U. S. entered the World War, when he served in France as captain of Engineers. After his return he was employed in many of the states from New Jersey to Washington as superintendent of construction for large contractors, and in recent years by the state of Pennsylvania in P. W. A. reconstruction of public institutions. The past year he had been consulting engineer in Department of Interior construction projects in Washington. Surviving are his wife, Jessie Murray Scott; a sister, Mrs. Katherine F. Tibbetts of Vanceboro; an adopted daughter, Miss Rosemary Scott, R. N., of Chicago. Funeral services and burial were in Carlisle, Pa., Saturday afternoon.
