Obituary	Mrs. Alice Hersom widow of the late George Hersom passed away Sunday afternoon February 23 at the age of 83 years. She had been in failing health for several years but only confined to her bed one week. Mrs. Hersom was born in Worcester, Mass. but moved to Maine when a young woman and has lived in Ripley ever since. First on a farm situated on the so called Pond Road where her three daughters were born, two of whom survive, Mrs. Jennie Wilkins, St. Albans and Mrs. Ethel Wing of Dexter, Myra having passed away several years ago. In 1918 Mrs. Hersom left the farm and moved to Ripley villiage where she resided until about 3 years ago when unable to live longer alone she was taken into the home of her daughter Mrs. Wilkins who has tenderly cared for her mother thru her remaining days. When able Mrs. Hersom was a faithful attendant at church and a member of Ripley Grange. A woman of sterling qualities a good neighbor and friend. She leaves besides her two daughters 4 grandchildren, and several great grand held at the home Tuesday, Feb. 25 with Rev. Gilman Lane officiating. Bearers were her son-in-law Harlan Wilkins and 3 grandsons. There were many flowers from neighbors, and friends silent tributes of sympathy. Interment was in Ferndale cemetery.
