Obituary
Miss Maude Eunice Lancaster, 62 years - 8 months, died February 23, 1947 at Quincy, Mass., after a long illness. She was born June 19, 1884 in Hanover, Conn., the daughter of Joseph and Beatta Martin Lancaster. During her girlhood she lived with her family on the South Ridge, Dexter. She was a graduate of the N. H. Fay High school and Farmington State Teacher's college. Before leaving for Massachusetts Miss Lancaster taught in several Maine towns including Norridgewock, Enfield, Sherman, Mills and Dexter. Miss Lancaster taught for approximately 15 years in the grade schools of Quincy, Mass. Before failing health made it necessary for her to retire. She made her home with a very true and devoted friend, Miss Louise Clark, a teacher in the Quincy High School. Miss Clark was untiring in her care and devotion to Miss Lancaster, even caring for her personally during some of her illness. Surviving are one brother, Vernard Lancaster of Newport, Me., one aunt, Mrs. Charles T. Merrill of Dexter; 9 nephews, 2 nieces and several cousins. Funeral services were held at the Crosby Funeral Parlors, February 26th, the Rev. Gordon Chilson Reardon, officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in the spring.
