Obituary	ALEXANDER E. WALLER, JR. DEXTER - Alexander Ernest Waller, Jr., died December 21, 1998, at the Maine Veteran's Home in Bangor, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born Sept. 3, 1927, at Jacksonville, FL the son of Alexander and Birdie (Wilkinson) Waller, Sr. He graduated from St. Petersburg High School, Class of 1945 and the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, Class of 1950. In school he was a member of the National Honor Society and was an Eagle Scout. In the Navy he served 25 years as an aircraft carrier pilot, including 3 tours of duty in Vietnam. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross as well as 6 air medals. He was also selected for exchange duty at the Royal Air Force Staff College, Bracknell, England. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed as an engineer at Martin Marietta in Orland, Florida; and also with the Office of the Secretary of Defense in Washington, D.C. He was CO of VF-84 and was also a member of the First Avenue Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, FL. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Berner) of Dexter; one son, Alexander III, of Tallahasee, FL; Five daughters, Cheryl Valentine of Fulton, MD; Lynda Tatum of Jasper, GA; Kerry Waller of Baltimore, MD; Victoria and Lindsay Waller, both of Dexter; and one brother, Dr. Marcus Waller of Ann Arbor, MI; two sisters, Sara Van Cleave of Columbus, GA and Mary Minton of St. Petersburg, FL; 13 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. There will be no viewing or services at this time. A memorial service is planned at the family residence, 26 High Street, Dexter, 1 p.m., Sunday, January 24, 1999 with Rev. Alec Craig officiating. Memorial donations may be made to a local Boy or Girl Scout troop. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neil Funeral Home, Dexter.
